Bragging

This Saturday, May 6, 2006, perfect daughter will graduate from college. She is graduating summa cum laude from a very difficult small university--she has a near-perfect 3.96 GPA and is the outgoing president of the student body (first woman to hold the post).

My perfect daughter received one of six full-tuition scholarships to this school, based on her GPA, her essay and her interview. She then proceeded to win another $20,000 scholarship which provided her with funds for housing. As if that were not enough, she has held at least two jobs down while carrying a full load of classes for four years, including honors courses. Along the way, she traveled to Japan, summered in France (taking an immersion course in French) and interned in Washington D.C. with a media watch-dog group.

To go with her summa cum laude distinction, she will wear a special tassle indicating her honors status and she is also one of just thirteen students tapped for the Gold Key Honor society this year.

Her future plans including interning at our US Senator's office at the Capitol in Austin in the next few weeks.

And the question I heard most when I started homeschooling her was, "What about college?".

It's all perfectly delightful.

    You're too nice to me!

And...it's all because of you. You taught me how to learn, and how to want to learn. And you somehow instilled in me the desire to do my best, while I always knew that if I failed you wouldn't be mad. You're a pretty dang awesome parent.

God just blessed me a lot. I don't deserve any of it.

  • Awwwwww.

Yes, it is all because of God. But He blessed you as you obeyed Him.

And none of it is because of your crazy mom.

Now, hush and go try on that cap and gown!
